Tourism Business in Himachal Picks Up Pace Again After Two Months, Tourists Return

Tourism in Himachal Pradesh Starts Recovering After Natural Disaster

After being hit by a natural disaster, the tourism business in Himachal Pradesh is gradually returning to normal. After a nearly two-month-long gap, tourist activity has resumed at popular destinations like Shimla, Kufri, Narkanda, Chail, Kasauli, and other nearby spots. Hotel inquiries for the Durga Puja tourist season have also started picking up.

In key tourist hotspots such as Shimla, Kinnaur, Chail, and Kasauli, hotel and homestay operators have reported an increase in tourist inquiries, raising hopes among business owners that tourism will regain momentum in the coming weeks. With the weather clearing, an increase in the number of tourists is expected from this weekend onward.

The restoration of transportation services has also given a boost to the tourism sector. Hoteliers say that by the end of September, during the Durga Puja holidays, there will be a rise in tourists coming from North India, as well as Bengal, Madras, and Gujarat.

Gajendra Chand Thakur, president of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations, stated that relief efforts have begun swiftly since the rains stopped. A small number of tourists have already started arriving in Himachal, and if heavy rains do not occur in the coming days, the tourism business is expected to pick up pace during the Durga Puja season.

Manu Sood, general secretary of the Travel Agents Association, mentioned that tourists from other states have started reaching the tourist spots. Upon returning, these visitors will share information about the improving conditions in Himachal, which is expected to further increase tourist arrivals in the near future.
