Not Nerchowk Medical College in Himachal, Bomb Threat Sent to Tamil Nadu CM Office and Medical College

Bomb Threat Sent to Nerchowk Medical College Turns Out to Be Meant for Tamil Nadu CM Office, Triggers Panic

Panic broke out at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Medical College and Hospital, Nerchowk (Mandi district), after a threatening email claiming a bomb threat was received on the institution’s official email ID. Authorities responded swiftly and evacuated the campus as a precautionary measure.

Investigation Reveals Threat Was Meant for Tamil Nadu

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the email threat was not directed at Nerchowk, but instead targeted the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Office and RGGEC Medical College. However, since the email landed in Nerchowk Medical College’s inbox, confusion and concern spread rapidly.

A copy of the email was also sent to the Superintendent of Police (Mandi) and SHO Sadar, following which bomb disposal teams, dog squads, and security personnel were deployed to inspect the premises thoroughly.

Allegations, Warnings in the Email

The threatening message, reportedly sent in the name of students and alumni of Anna University, mentioned that explosives would first be planted in a medical college and then in the CM office within 45 minutes. The email also included serious allegations against brokers, journalists, and politicians, and made references to orphanage children.

Previous Hoax Threats in the State

This incident adds to a series of similar threats received in Himachal Pradesh earlier. Institutions such as the State Secretariat, High Court, and DC Mandi Office have also received bomb threats in the past, which turned out to be hoaxes. So far, the person or group behind these emails remains unidentified.
