Vimal Negi Death Case: Bail of Accused Harikesh Meena Extended Till September 26 as CBI Fails to Submit Fresh Status Report
Shimla:
Harikesh Meena’s bail in the Vimal Negi death case has been extended by the Himachal Pradesh High Court till September 26, 2025. The decision came after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to submit an updated status report in the matter, prompting the court to prolong the bail period.
Earlier, the CBI had sought permission to amend Paragraph 10 of the status report submitted on August 11. That paragraph had alleged that SP Sanjeev Gandhi sent Pankaj Sharma to Bilaspur, whereas in reality, Sharma was inducted into the investigation team on the direction of the former DGP. The court of Justice Virender Singh accepted the amendment request.
The CBI also requested additional time to file the updated report, which the court granted. The court has instructed the agency to provide copies of the status report to all parties involved.
At the same time, Advocate General Anup Rattan appealed to the court for the re-inclusion of the state government in the case. The Himachal Pradesh government has been re-added as a party in the case following the court’s acceptance of the plea.
It is worth noting that the case was earlier handed over to the CBI following court directions, which led to the removal of the state government as a party in the investigation.
