Himachal Disaster: Centre Sends Seven Union Ministers to Assess Damage, Will Submit Report to PM Modi
In the wake of the recent natural disaster in Himachal Pradesh, the central government has deployed seven Union Ministers to visit the worst-affected districts including Chamba, Mandi, and Kullu. These ministers will assess the situation on the ground and submit a detailed report to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Following the Prime Minister's recent visit to the state, the Centre decided to send a high-level ministerial team to ensure an accurate evaluation of the damage and necessary rehabilitation measures. On Friday, Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, visited Manali to take stock of the situation. Her visit will continue on Saturday as well. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, Shantanu Thakur, met with affected people in Banjar constituency and listened to their concerns.
BJP state general secretary Payal Vaidya informed that Minister of State Ajay Tamta will visit Seraj, Mandi, and Kullu on September 14-15, while Durga Das Uikey will assess Bhattiyat and Bharmour on September 13-14. Other ministers including Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Jitin Prasada, and Jadhav Rao Ganpat Rao are also expected to visit soon.
Savitri Thakur inspected several disaster-hit sites along the Beas River, including Seobagh Bridge, Bandrol, Raison, Dohloonala, and areas up to Patlikuhal. She directed NHAI, PWD, and BRO officials to expedite road restoration work.
Under the leadership of PM Modi, the Centre has approved over ₹1500 crore in disaster relief aid for Himachal Pradesh, aiming to accelerate rehabilitation and relief operations in the state.
