Former CM Shanta Kumar Celebrates 92nd Birthday, Says “I Never Believed in Astrologers’ Predictions”

Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shanta Kumar celebrated his 92nd birthday on Friday with simplicity, keeping in mind the recent natural calamity in the state. A firm believer in yoga, healthy living, and inspired by Swami Vivekananda, Shanta Kumar credited his long life to disciplined habits and a positive mindset.
Recalling an old incident, he shared that an astrologer once predicted he would not live beyond 73 years. “I never believed it and never even told my wife until I was 75,” he said with a smile.
He also reminisced about his birthday in 1980 when he was flying from Delhi to Mumbai. To his surprise, the pilot made an onboard announcement wishing him a happy birthday, and he was gifted a pen.
Shanta Kumar expressed gratitude for all he has received in life, saying he never regretted what he lost. He also wished for BJP's victory in Himachal, especially from his hometown Palampur.
On his birthday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his wishes via email. BJP National President JP Nadda, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, former CMs Prem Kumar Dhumal and Jairam Thakur, Congress State President Pratibha Singh, MP Indu Goswami, and several other leaders conveyed their greetings through calls and personal visits.
