Minister Angered by Shivering Children Outside Locked School, Orders Lock Broken and Investigation Launched
In a shocking revelation of negligence in the education system of Himachal Pradesh’s tribal Pangi region, Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Wednesday personally intervened during a surprise visit to Thandal village.
While traveling from Saur Panchayat to Mindhal, the Minister’s convoy stopped in Purthi Panchayat, where locals informed him that teachers at Thandal Middle School were frequently absent, leaving children’s education in jeopardy.
Taking immediate action, the Minister changed his route and reached the school without prior notice. To his dismay, he found 35 children shivering in the biting cold outside a locked school gate at 10:30 AM. No teacher was present at that time.
Seeing the condition of the children, the Minister ordered the school lock to be broken and ensured the children were taken inside. A teacher arrived some time later but did not have the key to the school.
Minister Negi then instructed the SDM of Pangi to conduct a detailed investigation and submit a report. He firmly stated that negligence in children's education, especially in remote areas like Pangi, will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Villagers shared that late arrivals or absenteeism of teachers had become a regular occurrence. They expressed hope that the Minister’s strict action would now bring accountability to the education department and improve the situation.
