Job Fraud at Himachal Pradesh High Court: Youth Cheated of ₹1.20 Lakh

Shimla: A case of fraud has surfaced where a youth was cheated of ₹1.20 lakh in the name of securing a job at the Himachal Pradesh High Court. Police have registered a case under IPC sections 418(4) and 336(2) and have started an investigation.

Complainant Virendra Chauhan from village Manla, Theog, stated that the accused, Dev Kumar Thakur, who claimed to be the head of the outsourced branch at the State Secretariat, promised a job as a gardener in the High Court for his brother. The accused demanded ₹3 lakh, of which ₹1.20 lakh was paid upfront. However, neither the job was provided nor was the money refunded.

Initial police investigation revealed no such officer exists in the State Secretariat. SSP Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi stated that such fraud cases in the name of job offers have been reported earlier as well.
