Solang SkyUltra Race Kicks Off in Manali — Steep Climbs and Broken Trails Challenge Runners

Solang SkyUltra Race Begins in Manali; 300 Runners Face Harsh Terrain as Rally of Himalayas Adds to the Adventure

On Saturday, the picturesque Solang Valley in Manali came alive with the start of one of India’s most challenging high-altitude trail running events — the 10th edition of the Solang SkyUltra. Over 300 runners from across India and abroad have gathered to take on steep Himalayan climbs and broken trails that test both physical and mental endurance.

The race features four demanding categories — 14 km, 30 km, 60 km, and the toughest 100 km ultra-run, which includes over 24,114 feet of elevation gain, making it one of the hardest trail runs in the country.

Dr. Ayush Gupta, a neurosurgeon and participant, expressed excitement about the event, calling it more than a race — a boost to local tourism and economy. Due to heavy snowfall and rough weather, organizers had to make critical route changes for safety. Race director Vishwas Sindhu called reaching the 10th edition a “dream come true,” crediting the local community and administration for their support.

Rally of Himalayas: Excitement from Prini to Hamta

Meanwhile, the third day of the Rally of Himalayas saw participants race from Prini to Hamta. The event was flagged off by DSP KD Sharma, and in the Kothi to Marhi car segment, Shashank Jamwal, Aryak Rana, and Arnav Rana are currently leading.

Due to recent rainfall and snowfall, roads are in poor condition, adding to the difficulty. All participants are proceeding with extreme caution and precise timing. The rally will conclude on Sunday.
