Major Change in Offering Count at Baba Balak Nath Temple, Deotsidh; Cash to Be Handed Over to Bank Staff Immediately
Deotsidh — A significant change has been introduced in the cash offering count process at Baba Balak Nath Temple, Deotsidh. The temple trust has taken this step to enhance transparency and prevent any irregularities during the counting. Now, on Fridays and Mondays, bank officials will collect the cash directly from the temple’s counting room during the counting itself. Previously, the cash was handed over to the bank staff the next day after counting.
According to temple official Sandeep Chandel, although cash was kept under CCTV surveillance at the temple, a discrepancy on September 29 raised questions about the existing system. To address this, bank staff will now take possession of the cash immediately after counting.
On regular days, offerings are low, so counting is done mainly on Fridays and Mondays, while during Chaitra month fairs, counting is conducted daily. The temple trust issues a monthly duty roster assigning the responsibility of cash handling to different officials and staff. Though the roster changes periodically, cash used to be stored overnight in the temple premises.
