Grand Unveiling of Virbhadra Singh’s Statue Tomorrow at Shimla Ridge; Sonia and Priyanka Gandhi to Attend Amid Tight Security

A grand ceremony will be held on Monday, October 13, at the historic Ridge Ground in Shimla to unveil the statue of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, hailed as the architect of modern Himachal. The event will be graced by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The occasion will also see the presence of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri, State Congress President Pratibha Singh, party in-charge Rajni Patil, former in-charge Rajeev Shukla, and senior leader Sachin Pilot.

On Saturday evening, CM Sukhu, PWD and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh, and Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil visited the Ridge to review the final preparations. Thousands of Virbhadra Singh supporters from across the state are expected to attend.

High Security and Grand Arrangements

  • CRPF and local police have made elaborate security arrangements due to the presence of high-profile leaders.
  • Around 7,000 chairs will be placed for the public, with an additional 1,000 reserved seats.
  • A 'D' security zone will be created in front of the stage, with a separate VIP waiting area.
  • The event will also feature cultural performances and an exhibition on Virbhadra Singh’s life journey.

Dignitaries will first visit the exhibition, followed by the statue unveiling and tribute ceremony, concluding with a public address by Priyanka Gandhi, CM Sukhu, Pratibha Singh, and Dy CM Agnihotri.
