Himachal Disaster: Heavy Rain and Landslides Worsen Situation, Thousands of Manimahesh Pilgrims Stranded in Bharmaur

Heavy Rain and Landslides Cause Trouble for Manimahesh Pilgrims; Administration Faces Major Challenges

Continuous rainfall and landslides since Sunday have left thousands of pilgrims stranded in Bharmaur during the Manimahesh pilgrimage, unable to return home. The situation worsened on Tuesday due to incessant rain throughout the day. The administration is focused on ensuring the safety and arrangements for the pilgrims, but worsening weather conditions have increased the challenges. Approximately 500 personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, police, and Home Guard are stuck at different points along the route from Hal to Hadser. Teams associated with langar committees and departmental staff are also unable to proceed due to blocked routes.

No flights operated from Bharmaur helipad on Tuesday due to bad weather, preventing the evacuation of stranded pilgrims. Additionally, three bodies are trapped on the route, posing a challenge for the district administration, which is trying to transport them safely to Chamba Medical College.

state Minister Jagat Singh Negi conducted an inspection of the areas impacted by the landslides. The administration's efforts to clear debris are hampered by continuous landslides and heavy rain. Despite departmental machinery working round the clock, road restoration is repeatedly disrupted.

In the Tehseel Telka region, continuous heavy rainfall has caused cracks in the walls and roofs of several houses, endangering residents. In villages of Gram Panchayats Trekdi and Bhjotra, houses have weakened, causing concern for the safety of families living there.
