Four Himachal Police Personnel Suspended for Buying Liquor in Uniform
Chandigarh – A sub-inspector and three constables of the Himachal Pradesh Police were suspended on Friday after a video went viral showing them allegedly purchasing liquor and placing it in a government vehicle while in uniform.
The action was taken promptly by Solan Superintendent of Police (SP) Gaurav Singh, who also ordered a departmental inquiry into the matter. According to sources, the four policemen had accompanied Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s convoy to Chandigarh earlier that day. After the CM departed for Delhi via air, the police personnel, on their way back to Solan, stopped at a liquor showroom and were seen buying a crate of liquor.
SP Gaurav Singh stated that two of the suspended personnel are from Solan, while the other two are from the Reserve Battalion stationed in Kolar, Sirmaur district. All four were assigned special convoy duty. This is reportedly the first incident where uniformed police officers have been caught on camera purchasing liquor.
He added that the authenticity of the viral video is under investigation. If the allegations are found to be true, strict disciplinary action will follow.
