Two Devotees from Punjab Die During Manimahesh Yatra

Two Devotees from Pathankot Die Due to Lack of Oxygen During Manimahesh Yatra; Pilgrimage Temporarily Halted

Two pilgrims from Pathankot, Punjab lost their lives during the Manimahesh Yatra in Chamba’s Bharmour region due to a lack of oxygen. The deceased have been identified as Aman (18) from Sujanpur and Rohit (18) from Pathankot.

According to officials, Aman was rescued from Kamal Kund on Sunday night but passed away later at Gaurikund.  Rohit passed away on the Kugti trek route. Both bodies have been brought to Bharmour with the help of the Mountain Rescue and NDRF teams. The incident has been confirmed by Bharmour ADM Kulbir Singh Rana.

Given the circumstances, the administration has put the Manimahesh Yatra on temporary hold. Pilgrims have been urged to stay at safe locations and not proceed further until the weather improves.

Additionally, the Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway is blocked at Kalsuni, Jangi, and Durgethi, completely halting vehicle movement.

Meanwhile, despite bad weather and heavy rainfall, around 250 devotees have set out for the Manimahesh Lake from the Lahaul side. Reportedly, about half a foot of snowfall has occurred at the Kugti Pass, posing significant risks to the pilgrims.

The final decision regarding the yatra will be made after the traditional "Dev Khel" ritual in Jobrang village. The administration has appealed to all devotees to prioritize their safety and avoid any unnecessary risks.
