Kullu: Tehsildar Hari Singh’s Family Seeks Justice, Alleges Conspiracy Targeting Him for Past Three Years

Kullu Dussehra Incident: Tehsildar Assaulted by Devotee Group, Family Alleges Conspiracy, Demands Justice

In a shocking incident during the Kullu Dussehra celebrations, Tehsildar Hari Singh Yadav was allegedly assaulted and dragged by devotees at the temporary camp of deity Bhrigu Rishi. The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the state, and the Tehsildar's family is in deep shock, demanding justice from the administration.

The family claims that Hari Singh has been a target of a conspiracy for the past three years. They allege that this time, he was deliberately accused of entering the deity's camp wearing shoes, leading to public humiliation and physical assault.

Tehsildar Yadav has filed an FIR at the Kullu police station, naming one individual and several unknown persons. According to his complaint, on October 2 around 12:30 PM, he went with six employees to the deity’s temporary tent on the orders of the Deputy Commissioner and Dussehra Committee. As soon as they reached the area near the deity’s canopy, some devotees surrounded them and accused him of entering the camp with shoes on.

Despite clarifying that it was unintentional and apologizing, he was reportedly grabbed by the collar and sleeves, dragged, and beaten with fists and kicks. Yadav claims he was forced to kneel at the feet of the ‘Gur’ (deity’s spokesperson) and even rub his nose on the road in public as an apology.

The assault was allegedly recorded on CCTV cameras placed between Raghunath and Jamlu Rishi camps. Yadav has demanded that the investigation be conducted by a DSP-rank officer from outside the district, citing lack of impartiality.

He also mentioned that despite the presence of ASP, District Revenue Officer, and BRT personnel at the scene, the mistreatment continued unchecked.

ASP Kullu Sanjeev Chauhan confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita).

Meanwhile, questions are being raised about police absence during the incident, even though heavy police deployment was in place for the Dussehra event. Locals believe the presence of police could have prevented the situation from escalating.
