Himachal Govt Launches Dual Initiative – Overseas Jobs for Youth, Barley Procurement for Farmers
The Himachal Pradesh government has announced two major initiatives aimed at empowering the state's youth and supporting natural farming practices among farmers.
As per the directions of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, a special overseas recruitment drive will be held on October 9 at the Government Polytechnic in Hamirpur. This campaign is being organized by the Himachal Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (HPSEDC) in collaboration with the Labour & Employment Department, Technical Education Department, and a recruitment agency registered with the Ministry of External Affairs. The drive aims to offer employment opportunities abroad in both technical and non-technical fields through a transparent and reliable selection process.
In another significant move, the government will begin procurement of naturally grown barley in the remote Pangi region starting October 8. A minimum support price (MSP) of ₹60 per kilogram has been fixed. This is the first such government-supported procurement drive in the area. Five procurement centers have been set up, and 80 farmers have already registered under the scheme.
The government has also successfully completed procurement of naturally grown wheat from across the state. A total of 2,123.587 quintals of wheat was purchased from 838 farmers through 22 centers, with payments of ₹1.27 crore made so far, in addition to ₹4.15 lakh disbursed as transport subsidy.
CM Sukhu reiterated the government’s commitment to making youth globally competitive and ensuring fair prices for farmers practicing natural farming.
