Kinnaur (Himachal Pradesh), August 16, 2025: In a heart-wrenching incident on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, a couple from Delhi lost their lives after being hit by falling rocks in the Yula Kanda area of Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh. The devotees were on their way to the famous Shri Krishna Temple in Yula Kanda when the tragedy struck.

The tragic incident took place on Friday afternoon as the couple was trekking towards the temple. Suddenly, without any warning, a landslide triggered large rocks to fall from the hillside, striking the man and woman and killing them instantly.

Yula Panchayat Pradhan Anju informed the Tapri Police Station about the incident. Upon receiving the report, rescue teams from the local administration and police department rushed to the site. Efforts are currently underway to recover the bodies and confirm the identities of the deceased, which remain unknown at this time.

Local villagers quickly reached the spot to help with the rescue efforts, demonstrating a strong spirit of community and solidarity. According to reports, the region has been experiencing unstable weather conditions, including rains that have increased the risk of landslides.

Authorities have advised all pilgrims and travelers to exercise extreme caution while visiting hilly areas, especially during the monsoon season. The tragic incident has cast a shadow over the Janmashtami celebrations, which usually witness large numbers of devotees visiting the temple.
