Probe Ordered into Allegations of Fake Bonafide Certificates Used to Grab MBBS Seats in Himachal; Health Secretary Directed to Investigate

Fake Bonafide Certificate Row in Himachal MBBS Quota: CM Sukhu Orders Probe
Shimla, July 3, 2025: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed serious concern over allegations that fraudulent bonafide certificates are being used by candidates to illegitimately secure MBBS seats reserved under the state quota. The issue came to light after the family of a NEET UG aspirant met the CM and submitted evidence alleging that candidates from other states like Delhi and Punjab are fraudulently securing admissions meant for Himachali students.

The Chief Minister directed the Secretary of Health to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter. He assured that if the allegations are found to be true, strict action will be taken against the culprits and justice will be ensured for genuine candidates.

State Quota Eligibility Rule:
Two years ago, the Himachal Pradesh government introduced a rule requiring students to pass at least two of the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades from a recognized school in Himachal to be eligible for 85% of MBBS state quota seats. The rule aimed to protect the interests of local students.

Accusation of Fraud:
The complainants alleged that students from other states have used fake domicile or bonafide certificates to gain entry into Himachal’s medical colleges. They handed over documentary evidence to the CM and demanded strict action.

CM's Assurance:
CM Sukhu stated that any irregularity in crucial sectors like education and health will not be tolerated. The state government remains committed to safeguarding the future of its students.
