Union Minister Kiren Rijiju Visits Kinnaur: Focus on Border Road Development and Connectivity
Kinnaur: On the second day of his four-day visit to Himachal Pradesh, Union Minister for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju inaugurated several development projects in the Kinnaur district. He laid the foundation stone for a Government Senior Secondary School in Pooh and an indoor stadium in Gyabung.
Rijiju emphasized that the central government is prioritizing the repair and development of highways and local roads in areas bordering Chinese-occupied Tibet. He expressed hope that in the future, the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra could be launched from Kinnaur once connectivity improves.
He highlighted the importance of the 'Vibrant Villages Programme' initiated by the central government to develop remote and border areas. Rijiju also directed local officials to ensure timely completion of projects, despite the limited working season due to harsh weather conditions.
The minister was astonished by the roads carved along steep cliffs between Nigulsari and Taranda. He shared a video of the road on Facebook, remarking, “If someone slips from here, survival would be almost impossible.”
