Himachal BJP Likely to Get New State President Within a Week, These Leaders in Contention

New BJP State President Likely to Be Announced Soon in Himachal Pradesh
In Himachal Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to announce a new state president within a week. The current state president Dr. Rajiv Bindal’s tenure has ended, and names like MP Rajiv Bhardwaj, Rajya Sabha MP Sikandar Kumar, MLAs Trilok Jamwal and Rakesh Jamwal are also in the running. The national leadership had put the appointment process on hold following the Pahalgam incident, but now the process has resumed.
All eyes are on which leader the BJP national president JP Nadda will favor for the post in his home state. Sikandar Kumar is considered a strong contender to strengthen the party in Chief Minister Sukhu’s home district. Rajiv Bhardwaj is recognized as the party’s Brahmin face from Kangra, while Trilok Jamwal and Rakesh Jamwal are emerging young leaders.
There is also speculation about appointing Rajya Sabha MP Indu Goswami as a female leader. With upcoming local body elections like Panchayat, District Council, and Municipal Corporation later this year, the appointment of a new state president is expected to boost the party’s organizational activities.
Due to the delay in appointing the state president, 17 district presidents have been unable to form their working committees even after four months, impacting the party's organizational momentum in the state.
