HPSSC introduces OTR system to prevent duplicate applications, one category per post rule in place
Shimla – The Himachal Pradesh State Selection Commission (HPSSC) has implemented a One Time Registration (OTR) system to ensure transparency and prevent manipulation in recruitment processes. Under this new system, a candidate can apply for a particular post under only one category, as the OTR will be directly linked with their Aadhaar number, generating a unique ID per candidate.
Previously, many candidates applied from both unreserved and reserved categories for the same post, receiving separate roll numbers and choosing the most convenient exam center. This inflated application data and created inconsistencies in the final merit lists.
During the now-defunct Hamirpur Staff Selection Commission, there were instances where a candidate applied under both General and General IRDP categories. In one such case, the candidate took the exam from the General category and later failed to qualify for merit under IRDP, despite having better marks. Such confusion will now be eliminated with the OTR-based system.
Now, duplicate applications for the same post will be automatically flagged by the system, ensuring that only one application per Aadhaar-linked ID is accepted. Additionally, exams will be conducted via Computer-Based Tests (CBT) to enhance fairness and accountability.
“From now on, candidates can only apply under a single category. Dual applications under different reservations will be prevented through OTR unique ID tracking.”
