Himachal Pradesh: BJP Leader Rajendra Rana Accuses Congress of Selling Rajya Sabha Seat
Politics in Himachal Pradesh has heated up again, as BJP leader Rajendra Rana accused Congress of selling the state’s lone Rajya Sabha seat. The allegation comes after Congress surprised many by selecting Anurag Sharma as the candidate, while former Union Minister Anand Sharma and other senior leaders were considered strong contenders.
In a video message, Rana questioned Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, asking at what price the Rajya Sabha seat was sold and whether the deal was finalized in Dubai. He added that discontent is growing within the Congress, with party workers, legislators, and senior leaders feeling humiliated and dissatisfied.
Rana, who had joined BJP after previously cross-voting in their favor in the 2024 Rajya Sabha elections, also claimed that Himachal Pradesh is facing a financial crisis while the Chief Minister’s close associates are benefiting. He warned that people would give Congress a strong response in the upcoming assembly elections.
The biennial Rajya Sabha elections will be held on March 16, and Anurag Sharma is the sole candidate filing nomination for the lone seat.
