Himachal: 832 Students Selected in National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship, Highest 154 from Kangra
The results of the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) exam held across Himachal Pradesh have been announced. The exam was conducted on November 2, 2025, and nearly 9,700 eighth-grade students participated. A total of 832 students have been selected.
Kangra district recorded the highest selection with 154 students. Other districts include Mandi – 132, Bilaspur – 48, Chamba – 78, Hamirpur – 53, Kinnaur – 12, Kullu – 61, Shimla – 95, Sirmaur – 73, Solan – 69, Una – 61, and Lahaul-Spiti – 2 students. The exam was conducted across 68 centers in the state.
Selected students will receive a scholarship of ₹1,000 per month from 9th to 12th grade. The scheme was launched in 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s Department of School Education and Literacy to financially support meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds.
Dr. Ritu Sharma Soni, Principal of SCERT Solan, stated that the results have been emailed to all schools. Students will then need to apply for the scholarship. Selected students will receive a total of ₹48,000 over four years. School heads have been instructed to carefully upload students’ data on the online portal to avoid errors.
