Sanjauli Mosque Case: MC Commissioner Court's demolition order on Sanjauli Mosque to remain stayed

A hearing was conducted in the Sessions Court on Thursday regarding the high-profile Sanjauli Mosque dispute in Himachal Pradesh. During the proceedings, the Shimla Municipal Corporation presented its official response. The court acknowledged the matter as worthy of detailed discussion and decided to continue the interim stay on the mosque’s demolition orders.

The court clearly stated that no part of the mosque structure can be demolished while the case is still under judicial review. The next hearing has been scheduled for July 5, during which detailed arguments will take place.

Earlier, during the hearing on May 25, the court had issued an interim stay on the demolition of the mosque. In Thursday’s session, the court decided to continue this stay.

The advocate representing the case stated that the Waqf Board has challenged the May 3 order of the Shimla Municipal Commissioner’s Court, which had declared the Sanjauli Mosque illegal and ordered the demolition of its three floors.

The case is now set for substantial legal debate, and its outcome could potentially influence the state’s religious and social dynamics in the coming days.
