Atal Garden to Be Developed Near Najafgarh Drain, A New Hub for Recreation - Project Process Initiated

‘Atal Garden’ to Transform 21 Acres of Land near Najafgarh Drain into a Green Urban Oasis
A new green and recreational space is set to be developed near the Najafgarh Drain in Delhi’s Vipin Garden area. Named ‘Atal Garden’, the project will convert 21 acres of land into a vibrant public park, becoming a major recreational hub for Delhi residents.
The Delhi Government’s Irrigation and Flood Control Department (I&FC) has begun planning the design and execution of the project. The park will include lush green areas, a large walking track, Chhath Ghat, open-air gym, children's play zones, cricket nets, colorful water fountains, and a dedicated parking area.
The total estimated cost of the project is ₹29.94 lakh. Tenders will be submitted by 3 PM on June 27, after which the selected consultancy agency will conduct soil testing, architectural modeling, prepare 3D visuals, cost estimates, and tender documents for the next phase. The entire project is expected to be completed within three months.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, along with the local MLA and I&FC officials, recently inspected the site and emphasized the importance of creating a beautiful park for the local community. The project will align with Delhi’s Master Plan 2021 and relevant local regulations.
Additionally, the Sahibi River (Najafgarh Drain) banks will be beautified with new roads and plantation on both sides, turning the area into a scenic urban destination.
‘Atal Garden’ will serve as a green lung and recreational retreat for residents of nearby colonies such as Dwarka Mor, Uttam Nagar, and Vipin Garden.
