Himachal: Tourist Rush in Lahaul-Spiti and Kullu-Manali, Traffic Jam on Highways
Tourist spots Sissu and Grangu in the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti, Himachal Pradesh, witnessed a large influx of tourists over the weekend. Visitors are enjoying the scenic valleys. A huge rush of tourists is also seen in Kullu-Manali and other parts of Lahaul.
Many tourists are visiting destinations like Jalori Pass, Sojha, Raghupurgarh, Koksar, Tosh, Pulga, Barshaini, Karsog, and Rohtang Pass to enjoy the natural beauty. On Thursday, the increasing number of tourist vehicles led to long queues on Banjara Highway 305, the Bhuntar to Manikaran route, and between Manali town and Koksar and Grangu in Lahaul. Traffic jams were reported at multiple locations.
Business owners are delighted with the tourist rush. With Christmas and New Year celebrations approaching, a record number of tourists are expected this season. In Manikaran, the number of vehicles has increased from around 250 last week to over 500 now. Tourism businessmen said that rising AQI levels in Delhi have also contributed to more tourists visiting Kullu-Manali.
