Three Youths from Kangra Appointed as Lieutenants, Bring Pride to the District
Three young men from Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh—Sunny Thakur from Jaysinghpur, Ayush Mehra from Palampur (Khera), and Saurabh Singh from Panyali village, Jhanduta—have brought pride to the district by being commissioned as Lieutenants in the Indian Army after rigorous training and selection.
Sunny Thakur:
Sunny Thakur from Jaysinghpur completed one year of training at the Officer Training Academy (OTA), Gaya, and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers. He secured the second rank nationwide in the Technical Entry exam. Sunny completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya Hamirpur and a degree in Mechanical Engineering from JN Government Engineering College, Sundernagar. His father, Manjeet Thakur, is a Sub-Inspector in ITBP, and his mother, Madhubala, is a homemaker.
Ayush Mehra:
Ayush Mehra from Khera, Palampur, qualified the CDS exam to join the Indian Army. The son of the late Sunil Kumar, Ayush worked in the private sector for two years before pursuing his passion for serving the nation. He graduated in Chemical Engineering from NIT Hamirpur.
Saurabh Singh:
Saurabh Singh from Panyali village, Jhanduta, was also selected as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army. Out of 170 candidates at the selection process in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, he cleared five days of SSB tests and four days of rigorous medical evaluations. Saurabh holds an MSc in Agroforestry from Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni.
These achievements have created a wave of joy across the district. The young officers credited their success to their parents and mentors. Saurabh Singh will report for duty in Chennai on April 1.
