Primary Teachers’ Association Ends Protest After Meeting with Education Minister
Committee Formed to Address Pending Demands
Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Government Primary Teachers’ Association has decided to end its ongoing protest after a meeting with Education Minister Rohit Thakur. On Saturday, the minister personally visited the protest site at the Directorate of Education in Lalpani and offered juice to the protesting members to mark the end of the strike.
According to Minister Rohit Thakur, mutual agreement has been reached between the association and the government on most issues. To resolve the remaining demands, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Director of School Education, Ashish Kohli, which will also include representatives from the teachers’ union. The committee will hold detailed discussions in the coming days.
The minister also clarified that there will continue to be a single Directorate of School Education in the state. However, two separate Additional Directors will be appointed to oversee classes 1 to 5 and classes 6 to 12, respectively.
