Weather Turns Severe in Himachal Pradesh; Heavy Rainfall Causes Roadblocks
The weather in Himachal Pradesh has taken a turn with heavy rainfall in several parts including the state capital Shimla. Dense fog has enveloped Shimla since morning, making the day appear dark. The Kangra-Dharamshala route has been closed near Chetdu due to landslides since around 8:30 AM. Vehicles are being diverted via the Baya Sheila-Aura-Sarah route to Kangra. Additionally, the main road near Hatni Ki Dhar in Jatog Cantonment area of Shimla is completely blocked due to landslides, damaging one vehicle beyond repair.
Due to the rains, the courtyard of Shaheed Inder Singh Secondary School in Pandoh is waterlogged, causing difficulties for students and teachers. The school ground and entrance are submerged, forcing many students to remove their shoes and walk through the water to reach classrooms. Locals have urged authorities to implement proper drainage and repair the broken boundary walls, which has been an ongoing issue since 2023.
