Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students to Stop from 2026 in Unaccredited Institutions
New Delhi/Shimla
In a major directive, the Central Government has temporarily relaxed the mandatory accreditation requirement from NAAC or NBA for higher education institutions under the Post-Matric Scholarship Scheme for Scheduled Caste (SC) students. Earlier set to take effect from the academic year 2025-26, the rule will now be enforced from 2026-27.
According to a letter issued by the Directorate of Higher Education, institutions across the country must obtain NAAC or NBA accreditation by the academic year 2026-27 to remain eligible under the scheme. This relaxation was granted in response to concerns raised by educational institutions about meeting the earlier compliance deadline.
All higher educational institutions have been directed to accelerate the accreditation process to ensure uninterrupted benefit to SC students, including those from Himachal Pradesh studying across the country.
