College teachers in the state will now also be honored with the State-Level Teacher Awards. The education department is developing a new plan to incentivize assistant and associate professors. Until now, only school teachers were recognized and honored every year on September 5th. Starting this year, the plan is to invite applications from college teachers and award them as well.
During a departmental meeting held on Friday at the Secretariat, chaired by Education Minister Rohit Thakur, the decision to implement this plan was made. The minister has instructed officials to develop a detailed proposal, which will be presented to the Chief Minister before being implemented. Every year on Teacher's Day, the government honors 30 school teachers, but college teachers had been excluded from this recognition. Now, a separate plan has been devised to honor college teachers to encourage and motivate them. Officials have stated that once the plan is approved by the government, efforts will be made to begin the recognition process this year.
**Second Phase of Shortlisting Begins on the 27th**
The second phase of the shortlisting process for selecting school teachers for state-level awards will begin on September 27th. A selection committee, chaired by the Education Secretary, will interview the shortlisted teachers. Recently, the education department assessed the achievements of teachers by visiting their schools. The performance of school children was also evaluated, and based on the marks received by the students, teachers will be selected for the state-level awards.
